Me against the system!!
Ummmm...just the library system. But nonetheless a "system". ANYWAY...here's what happened:
I was checking whether I had anything on hold for me at the library when I saw that I still had a book out. That couldn't be as I had returned the book (due Feb. 18) and a video (due Feb. 14) on Sunday, February 12th. So I go to the library today to fix the book problem. Book problem fixed.
As I was checking my record again for any other discrepancies, I discover that I had a fine of $0.30 for supposedly returning the video one day late. So I go up to the people and told them my situation.
Their records show that the video was signed back in on the 15th and at a different library. They're telling me that's what the records say and there's no explanation why the book would've been sent to that library before it was signed in. But I countered their stuper by giving my own theory that someone could've picked up the video before it was signed back in and left with it. They tried to dismiss it by saying it would've set off the alarm but for the life of me I wasn't going to back down! So I pointed out that if the video wasn't signed back in, the security thing would still be deactivated! HA! In your face!!! (I didn't actually say the last part...)
They understood my situation but there wasn't much they could do at the time. The supervisor took my info and told me she would talk to the next person higher than her to sort this all out and I went home.
A few minutes ago, she called to inform me that they will waive the fine. HOOYAH! VICTORY! The $0.30 will stay in my pocket!
